Temporary closure at Fighting 15s

Fighting 15s is shut from 1 June 2020 for one month. We will be cleaning up the shop after the removal of AB Figures and Eureka Miniatures products, and working on much-needed new pictures, plus a redesign of the online shop.

All remaining AB and Eureka miniatures will either be reincarnated as new figures (melted down, if you want it brutally), or, if viable, disposed of through a specialist in secondhand figures.

We have new products of our own to develop and launch, and it is time to focus on what lies ahead, not on our past.

Fighting 15s acquires Gladiator Miniatures from Black Hat

Fighting 15s is taking over the 15mm and 18mm ranges from Black Hat Miniatures, and ownership officially transfers this weekend at Colours.

All the 15mm ranges will be sold as Gladiator Miniatures – as they were before Black Hat produced them. The 18mm Martian Empires range will be sold under the Martian Empires name in the Fighting 15s shop.

All the codes have been uploaded to the Fighting 15s shop and will go live within the next week. I have been working hard to make descriptions consistent, and remove quirks of spelling. There will still be errors that I will kick myself over each time they become apparent…

Until the moulds and stock arrive, the pictures will be the same as used by Gladiator and Black Hat – some of these go back to 2002 and the era of modems and tiny image files, and are not satisfactory for today’s website. Some codes were never photographed. I will be updating and adding photos as soon as possible, but there are more than 800 codes to ink, photograph and edit, so please bear with me.

I have all the masters and production masters, and I should take delivery of the moulds within the next week.

Looking ahead, I aim to use Fighting 15s’ shows rep, Stuart Armstrong at Colonel Bill’s, to offer army packs of the Gladiator Miniatures ranges at UK wargames shows, but this will take some months to organise. Stuart already takes some AB, Eureka and Fighting 15s figures to shows.

Mark Severin at Scale Creep Miniatures will continue to carry the figures in the USA so there should be no disruption in service to US customers. Olympian will continue to carry them in Australia.

In future, all Gladiator Miniatures will be cast in lead-free pewter. This affects the costs of figures, originally priced for a much cheaper lead-tin mix, and because adding VAT will also affect the price to customers in the EU I have taken the opportunity to reorganise the contents of many of the packs to reduce the impact on the overall price.

Standard packs of Gladiator Miniatures 15mm infantry and cavalry therefore now contain 8 infantry or 4 cavalry to fit in with the rest of Fighting 15s’ ranges – and most of the rest of the wargaming hobby. A standard pack is now £3.40 inc tax. Chariot packs and elephant packs are £3.60 inc VAT. Command packs typically contain 5 foot or 3 mounted, and cost £2.55 inc VAT – the number in a command pack varies from range to range and descriptions of command as being “1 set” will be changed as soon as possible. Standard Martian Empires packs will be £3.60 inc VAT and continue to include 8 infantry or 4 cavalry.

Note that Mike at Black Hat Miniatures will continue to produce and distribute Coat d’arms paints, as well as focus on his 54mm toy soldier business, Imperial Miniatures. Fighting 15s will continue to represent AB Figures and Eureka Miniatures in the EU.

Fighting 15s releases 15mm Ancien Régime flags

ancien_regime_blog

Fighting 15s  has released 30 sheets of 15mm paper flags for Ancien Régime infantry. The flags are suitable for French infantry from the Seven Years War right up to the Revolutionary Wars.

Each sheet costs £4.00 including VAT and sheets typically contain 12 flags – six white Colonel’s flags and six coloured Ordonnance flags. Flags are in Fighting 15s’ new shaded style, introduced for the Austrian Seven Years War infantry flags, and the stitching has been emphasised on the Colonels’ flags so they look more than just a white flag.

The flags have been designed in particular to suit Eureka’s Seven Years War French to give a good fit around the flag staff.

Fighting 15s is in the process of reorganising the flags section of the online shop, and this is the first range of Fighting 15s’ flags to be fully illustrated on the site.

Grand Prince Vytautas rides out in 15mm

ML-02 Lithuanian Grand Prince Vytautas and retinue

ML-02 Lithuanian Grand Prince Vytautas and retinue

Following on the heels of the re-released 15mm Teutonic Order and Polish figures for the Battle of Tannenberg (Grünwald) 1410 come the Lithuanians. Formerly produced by Oddział Osmy of Poland, these figures are now available through Fighting 15s.

The Lithuanians comprise three packs:
ML01 Lithuanian Boyars
ML02 Grand Prince Vytautas and retinue
ML03 Lithuanian light cavalry

Each pack comprises four mounted figures with horses and costs £3.20 including VAT. There’s an option to add three extra figures to pack ML02 to boost the number of standard bearers and retainers.

The figures have been remastered, the original two-piece horse casting changed to one-piece castings, and new production moulds made. Figures come with a selection of cast weapons, and assembly is required.

The figures are listed in the New Arrivals section of the Fighting 15s website at www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/new-arrivals-808-c.asp

The figures complete Fighting 15s’ re-release of Oddzial Osmy’s 15mm Medievals, and our attention will now focus on returning the 15mm Napoleonics to production.

15mm Napoleonic Saxon Chevaulegers 1809

NSC-02 Saxon Chevauleger command 1809

Fighting 15s has re-released the 15mm 1809 Saxon chevaulegers formerly made by Oddzial Osmy of Poland. The chevaulegers have been remastered, have new production moulds and now come with one-piece horses, rather than the two-part horses of the originals: riders are still separate from the horses.

Figures are priced at £3.20 for four identical troopers and £1.60 for two command figures, with a standard bearer available as an option for an extra 80p. A unit pack of 12 figures including two command is £9.60. Prices include VAT.

Fighting 15s is in the gradual process of re-releasing all of Oddzial Osmy’s 15mm Napoleonic line. The Saxon chevaulegers join the Krakusi and Russian Cossacks in the line-up of re-releases.

For convenience, the figures are listed in the New Arrivals section of the Fighting 15s website at http://www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/new-arrivals-808-c.asp.

Fighting 15s has re-released Oddzial Osmy’s 15mm Cossacks for 1812, with new moulds made from the original masters. The figures are part of a small Napoleonic range originally made by the Polish figures manufacturer, and now owned by Fighting 15s.

The figures are cast open-handed and lances are not provided. Figures are available in packs of four troopers for £3.40 (code NR-01), with command figures (cossack with sword) available in a pack of two for £1.70 (code NR-02). A unit pack of 12 figures is available for £10.00. All prices include VAT.

Oddzial Osmy re-releases from Fighting 15s: Teutonic infantry previews

IF

Next up in the 15mm re-releases of former Oddzial Osmy ranges from Fighting 15s will be the Teutonic crossbowmen and spearmen. We now have the production masters made for the moulds, using the original master figures as a starting point, and hope to get the production moulds made in the next few weeks.

The figures were originally part of a small range that Polish company Oddzial Osmy made for the battle of Tannenberg. Fighting 15s now owns these figures. They are on the tall side for 15mm.

Fighting 15s re-releases 15mm Krakus cavalry

15mm Krakus cavalry 1813

15mm Krakus cavalry 1813

At long last Ian at Fighting 15s has got his act together and started re-releasing the 15mm figures originally produced by Oddzial Osmy of Poland. The company produced a small range of 15mm Napoleonics and Medievals, to which Fighting 15s now has the rights. Fighting 15s is in the process of making new moulds from the masters.

The first re-release is the 15mm Napoleonic Krakus cavalry for 1813, one of the most popular sets in the range. Three units of Polish cossacks (Krakus) were raised in 1812, but combined into one regiment. Headgear varied, and the Oddzial Osmy set represented two variants: a tall czapka, and a lower, more traditional Polish cap, but not the melon-shaped cap shown in some pictures. The Krakus fought loyally for Napoleon, serving into 1814.

The original set was released as a box of 15 figures, but Fighting 15s has re-released the troopers and command separately. The troopers are available in a pack of four for £3.30 inc VAT (£2.75 ex VAT) and the command is available in a pack of two for £1.70 inc VAT (£1.42 ex VAT). The troopers now have cast lances – the originals were open-handed.

The figures are best suited in size to smaller 15mm figures from other manufacturers, but as the Krakus were mounted on small horses they may work with larger 15mm figures.

Oddzial Osmy, of course, still produces its own 1:600 ranges and 15mm SF range, which are stocked by Fighting 15s.

Scale Creep ACW reverts to US-only production

Scale Creep Miniatures and Fighting 15s have by mutual agreement ended the licensing deal by which Fighting 15s produces Scale Creep’s 18mm ACW range in the UK. The range is now only available direct from Scale Creep in the US.

Thank you to all customers in the UK and Europe who have supported this range while Fighting 15s has represented it.

Orbat series adds French and Spanish flags for Albuera and Fuentes de Onoro

As well as redesigning the 15mm Spanish flags for the Napoleonic range, our designer has completed the flags required for Fuentes de Onoro (3 to 5 May 1811) and Albuera (16 May 1811) with the addition of French and Spanish flags, plus a sheet for the famous Light Division.

The Order of Battle series of 15mm Flags for AB allows gamers to easily buy all the required flags for particular historic formations on a few sheets rather than trying to create them with, in particular for the French, the more generic regimental flags. The French flags for the two battles provide appropriately numbered flags for participating regiments and their battalions. The Spanish flags have suitable city or provincial crests to suit the regiments.

The Light Division sheet provides flags for the 1/43rd,1/52nd, 2/52nd and 17th (2nd Elvas) regiments, making it suitable for engagements from 1810 to 1814.

Full details of the orbat flags are in the Fighting 15s online shop. Sheets are £4.00 each. Fighting 15s aims to have these flags available at Salute on Saturday 16 April, stand TK19.
